Hygienist Services

Dental Hygiene Services
for the Hitchin, Stotfold & Shefford Areas

At Stotfold and Shefford Dental Clinics, we believe that everyone should have the opportunity to be proud of their smile and overall oral health. While some patients may immediately think teeth whitening, Invisalign® braces or dental veneers are the way to the perfect smile, the "secret" lies in regular visits to the hygienist!

Routine hygienist appointments help you to maintain optimal health of your teeth and gums, and include scale and polish services, as well as detection and treatment of gum disease. At your hygienist appointment, any issues that require intervention by a cosmetic dentist will be detected and discussed. They’ll also be able to advise you on home care, minimising the need for extra dental treatment in the future.

I began my career in dentistry in 1984 qualifying as a Dental Nurse and then went on to achieve the Dental Hygienist Certificate in 1988 at Guys Dental Hospital London.

Over the last 3 decades I have gained a wealth of experience in all dental fields, having worked in general practice as well as industry and the armed forces. My last position which I held for many years was working closely with a team of specialist dentists that lead to an additional interest in complex cases.

I am highly experienced in all aspects that encompass gingivitis and periodontitis to dental implants.

I am skilled at giving local anaesthetic to patients to ensure hygiene appointments are as comfortable as possible.

My passion is to improve the quality of patient’s general mouth care and increase confidence and comfort.

As a child I had a dental phobia and have used this experience to treat phobic patients over the years.

When I am not in my clinical role, I have a varied life that involves exercise, cooking and travelling and spending time with friends.

I have 2 grown up daughters who are a constant inspiration a gorgeous husband and an adorable little dog.
